Kia c’eed with 3 Stage Pearl White Paint

As the name implies, a 3 Stage Pearl White Paint finish uses multiple coats of visible paint layers applied one after the other to achieve a pearlescent effect. The three layers of paint are added on top of the primer and sealant meaning that any touch ups or re-sprays are quite time-consuming. Repairs will require a skilled paint sprayer who is able to not only match the manufacturer’s finish, but also blend the repaired area with the existing paintwork.

The appeal of 3 Stage Pearl White Paint is how the pearlescent effect differs depending on the angle of the light source and reflections. If you look at a vehicle with 3 Stage Pearl Paint from an indirect angle, the light has to travel further through the layers which increases the effect of each layer. The majority of vehicles have two stage paint, but if you think you have a pearl effect and are not 100% sure, check with the manufacturer using your VIN# number.

Kia c’eed with 3 Stage Pearl White Paint

This vehicle needed repairs to a deep dent in the near side wing. The near side front door and the front bumper had to be blended with the 3 Stage Pearl White Paint finish. We do this using a precision matched paint system and then use our low bake oven which we have on-site at our workshop.  Whilst it’s not common for cars to have 3 Stage Pearl White Paint, it is becoming more popular and is something that we pride ourselves on getting spot on.

Here are some work in progress shots of the Kia c’eed having front near side wing repairs.
